Biography
Jean Christian Obame
Diplomat, Expert in International Relations, and Chief Economist Statistician, he has more than 20 years of experience. At the national level, he served as a diplomatic advisor for more than 15 years to the Ministers in charge of Economy, Investment Promotion and Public-Private Partnerships, Trade, SMEs, Handicrafts, Tourism, Industry, and Foreign Affairs. Head of negotiations for the creation or updating of bilateral Trade and/or Investment Cooperation Agreements as well as multilateral Agreements (European Union-Central Africa EPA), WTO, UNWTO. Conducted sensitive consultations and negotiations at a high political level, solved complex economic problems, and provided strategic advice. He was also responsible for the computer processing of the General Census of Population and Housing - RGPH 1993 (Ministry of Planning); Director of Macroeconomic Studies and national focal point for recommendations from International Financial Institutions IMF and World Bank (Ministry of Finance and the Economy).

At the international arena, he served for over 10 years as Gabon’s representative on the Fifth Committee (Administrative and Budgetary) of the United Nations General Assembly; Chancellor at the Permanent Mission of Gabon to the United Nations in New York and Advisor for diplomatic, political, economic and environmental issues, budgetary and human resources, equipment and financial management, development, and international peace and security. He has also been a member of the Program and Coordination Committee (CPC) and the Board of Directors of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and the Bureau of United Nations Project Support Services (UNOPS). As a culmination, he was elected as a member of the United Nations Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Matters (ACABQ) and Vice-President in 2013.
All these experiences gave him competitive know-how and provided him sufficient weight in the fields mentioned above both nationally and internationally.

As part of his education, he got a Master‘s Degree in Mathematical Statistics and Probability, a Master’s Degree in Applied Mathematics, and a Master of Arts in International Relations and National Security.
